About Me

My photo
I don’t know why I am doing this but I have to in the end to pass this course. I will try to speak about myself even though I don’t like to. I am very friendly and easy going with all my friends, but on the other hand I don’t like to speak or contact with new people. I don’t like to change anything in my life because changing anything will affect my schedule. Speaking about my schedule, its not a real schedule but it's what I do every day such as guitar training, bathing, praying, and what I call ‘’the computer time”. I have to do these things every day if I want to call it a day. I try always to be different from the others because I hate the people who keep acting like the others to be their friends or to look cool. This is my second year in the ADMC, and I am with a very nice group with professional teachers who I respect a lot. In the future I want to be a successful man who can do whatever he wants like traveling, living alone, buying anything.

Global Warming Task 7

The whole world is facing a lot of problems in this period which could put the next generation in danger. The global warming is the most common problem in these days especially after the signs that we saw in the past five years. The best definition for the global warming is the greenhouse gas emissions. CO2 keeps the sun heating inside the planet which increases the earth temperature. Some people say that it will not be a big problem in the future because this is a normal thing and the temperature will fall down in the next years. On the other hand the scientists are warning the world if they keep ignoring the problem and saying that nothing is happening now.

The Problem:
The main cause for the problem is the greenhouse gas emissions and the CO2 is the most dangerous one because it has the most polluting gas (Causes of Global Warming Causes - Carbon Dioxide – paragraph 1 line 4). The CO2 is one part of the problems. The other gases which go to the air are dangerous too. If we look at the problem from another side we will find that the problem is from the humans themselves. By ignoring the problem and keeping using the factories and the others polluting things because we don’t want to lose our businesses, so we are the cause number one of the global warming (Fundamental Global Warming Causes - paragraph 4).

Solution:
because we are the problem. We have to stay together and think in a way to solve the problem and be sure that nobody will lose anything. Even if somebody is going to lose something, but losing money or a business will not be worse than losing or planet which our kids will be living in the future. Even though it’s easy to say it but doing this process will take a very long time because now we are in a very deep problem. Closing the old factories, using friendly fuels to the environment, or asking the people to decrease their footprints percentages(Http://www.globalwarmingsolutions.org/category/political-solutions). These steps may help and give our planet a chance to live.

Cool Cities Video

The CO2 emissions are increasing after each decade. This is the major problem in the world for all the countries. Buildings have the highest rate from the emissions, and the transportation comes next. We have to solve the problem because in the future we will need two planets to live and since it’s impossible to create or find a new planet then we have reduce the emissions as much as we can.

Here in the UAE a group of Japanese companies are going to start a project called Cool Cities. This project will help both the environment and the people at the same time. The city will be environmentally friendly because everything will be made from friendly materials. The transportation will be friendly to the environment such as water taxis, and hybrid cars. The city will be divided into three parts, and it will be like this: Business, Commercial, and Residential zones.

In my opinion it’s a very good start to find a way to reduce the CO2 emissions, but it’s hard for the locals here in the UAE to live in such a city. If it’s going to be like the usual areas then it’s ok but if it’s like the modern city then that is not what we are looking for. Maybe in the future many locals will accept it, but it’s not for the locals and the foreign people will be happy to live in a city like this.

Suicide in China ( summary )

Summary:
In China the number of women from the population are decreasing because many of them commit suicide after a small fight with their husbands. Most of these cases happen out of the cities, because they can get the poison easily as Xu Rong, head of the Suicide Prevention Project at the Beijing Cultural Development Centre for Rural Women said. The wife becomes the weakest after these fights because in China the Bride has to leave her family and go to her husband’s house to show them that she is a good wife which puts her under a big pressure. she said that 70 – 80% of the cases happened after a fight between the wife and her husband. They kill themselves for many reasons like sending a message, dignity, or because they are afraid of asking for divorce. In China the marriage is like buying and this the main problem because the men think that they can do whatever they want, but this is their traditional thinking and it’s hard to change even with the government laws. Xu Rong formed an organization which works as groups in the rural areas to help the women by giving them advice and solutions for their problems instead of suicide. In the cities the girls can live in peace from their parents for a short time because they have to go back to the village to marry someone, but this shows us another problem because they face many problems from their bosses such as rape, or sexual abuses.

Main idea:
The article talks about the marriage problem in China and what it might lead to in the future. The wives commit suicide after a small fight with their husbands for many reasons such as sending a message for the husband, or asking for dignity.

Opinion:
I think it’s a nice article especially because it contains new information about the other countries. I found it very organized and easy to understand. By showing the statistics and the numbers it gives the reader a good background about the problem.

Carboon Footprint

After measuring my carbon footprint in http://footprint.wwf.org.uk/ it showed that it’s 2.22.

Carbon footprint is the amount of greenhouses gases which we make every day, or in our life. I have the lowest rate between my friends in the class, and they all have the same rate with the average of 4.0. Everybody in this world has his own carbon footprint which he is responsible for. Even though the population is very small and we are a very small country, the UAE has the highest number in the carbon footprint per person.

I don’t know how to decrease my rate but I think that I have a good life style. I will describe each point about my carbon foot print:

Travel : I don’t travel a lot especially in this period because I have to study even in the summer. I think that traveling one every 2 years is a good thing and I don’t have to do anything about it. On the other hand I don’t use the bus because I have my car and it’s faster. Speaking about my car, I use my car 6 minutes every day because my house is near the college, and I stay in my house at the week end.

Home : my eating habit is very healthy compared to the others. I eat fish, and meat once every week because I am not a big fan of them. Egg and pasta types are my main food system, so I think that its normal.

Reviews

A Favorable review:
Brandon Fibbs, http://brandonfibbs.com/2006/05/24/an-inconvenient-truth/ , says:

He liked the movie and he mentioned a lot of positive points. Firstly, all scientists agree about the global warming and about the disasters that we will face in the future because of the climate change for example. Secondly, a lot of evidence was shown which will give the right picture about his point. Many photos were shown as a proof, charts, facts, and statistics. Thirdly, he was treating his audience like adults which gives you the feeling that they are serious about it even though there were some jokes but his manner was very polite. Fourthly, the movie ends on a positive note.

An Unfavorable review:
Scott, http://www.threemoviebuffs.com/review.php?movieID=inconvenienttruth , criticizes:
Scott said that the movie was not good for many reasons. Firstly, he thinks that the movie was more about Al Gore than the global warming and in here he mean his son and sister stories. Secondly, Al Gore was telling jokes about political people such as Bush the ex- president of the USA. Thirdly, we don’t know if the pictures that he showed in the presentation are in the same season or not because it might be that some of them in the winter and the others in the summer. Fourthly, he thinks that Al Gore is biased because he is looking al the global warming in one way.

My opinion:
Actually I am with both of them because I agree with some points with Brandon, and Scott. I agree with Brandon when he said that the show was interesting because he was speaking about the global warming with facts and evidence. On the other hand I agree with Scott in the before and after pictures issue because we are not sure if they are in the same season or not. Overall I like the show and agree more with Brandon than Scott.
