About Me

My photo
I don’t know why I am doing this but I have to in the end to pass this course. I will try to speak about myself even though I don’t like to. I am very friendly and easy going with all my friends, but on the other hand I don’t like to speak or contact with new people. I don’t like to change anything in my life because changing anything will affect my schedule. Speaking about my schedule, its not a real schedule but it's what I do every day such as guitar training, bathing, praying, and what I call ‘’the computer time”. I have to do these things every day if I want to call it a day. I try always to be different from the others because I hate the people who keep acting like the others to be their friends or to look cool. This is my second year in the ADMC, and I am with a very nice group with professional teachers who I respect a lot. In the future I want to be a successful man who can do whatever he wants like traveling, living alone, buying anything.

Suicide in China ( summary )

Summary:
In China the number of women from the population are decreasing because many of them commit suicide after a small fight with their husbands. Most of these cases happen out of the cities, because they can get the poison easily as Xu Rong, head of the Suicide Prevention Project at the Beijing Cultural Development Centre for Rural Women said. The wife becomes the weakest after these fights because in China the Bride has to leave her family and go to her husband’s house to show them that she is a good wife which puts her under a big pressure. she said that 70 – 80% of the cases happened after a fight between the wife and her husband. They kill themselves for many reasons like sending a message, dignity, or because they are afraid of asking for divorce. In China the marriage is like buying and this the main problem because the men think that they can do whatever they want, but this is their traditional thinking and it’s hard to change even with the government laws. Xu Rong formed an organization which works as groups in the rural areas to help the women by giving them advice and solutions for their problems instead of suicide. In the cities the girls can live in peace from their parents for a short time because they have to go back to the village to marry someone, but this shows us another problem because they face many problems from their bosses such as rape, or sexual abuses.

Main idea:
The article talks about the marriage problem in China and what it might lead to in the future. The wives commit suicide after a small fight with their husbands for many reasons such as sending a message for the husband, or asking for dignity.

Opinion:
I think it’s a nice article especially because it contains new information about the other countries. I found it very organized and easy to understand. By showing the statistics and the numbers it gives the reader a good background about the problem.

Carboon Footprint

After measuring my carbon footprint in http://footprint.wwf.org.uk/ it showed that it’s 2.22.

Carbon footprint is the amount of greenhouses gases which we make every day, or in our life. I have the lowest rate between my friends in the class, and they all have the same rate with the average of 4.0. Everybody in this world has his own carbon footprint which he is responsible for. Even though the population is very small and we are a very small country, the UAE has the highest number in the carbon footprint per person.

I don’t know how to decrease my rate but I think that I have a good life style. I will describe each point about my carbon foot print:

Travel : I don’t travel a lot especially in this period because I have to study even in the summer. I think that traveling one every 2 years is a good thing and I don’t have to do anything about it. On the other hand I don’t use the bus because I have my car and it’s faster. Speaking about my car, I use my car 6 minutes every day because my house is near the college, and I stay in my house at the week end.

Home : my eating habit is very healthy compared to the others. I eat fish, and meat once every week because I am not a big fan of them. Egg and pasta types are my main food system, so I think that its normal.

Reviews

A Favorable review:
Brandon Fibbs, http://brandonfibbs.com/2006/05/24/an-inconvenient-truth/ , says:

He liked the movie and he mentioned a lot of positive points. Firstly, all scientists agree about the global warming and about the disasters that we will face in the future because of the climate change for example. Secondly, a lot of evidence was shown which will give the right picture about his point. Many photos were shown as a proof, charts, facts, and statistics. Thirdly, he was treating his audience like adults which gives you the feeling that they are serious about it even though there were some jokes but his manner was very polite. Fourthly, the movie ends on a positive note.

An Unfavorable review:
Scott, http://www.threemoviebuffs.com/review.php?movieID=inconvenienttruth , criticizes:
Scott said that the movie was not good for many reasons. Firstly, he thinks that the movie was more about Al Gore than the global warming and in here he mean his son and sister stories. Secondly, Al Gore was telling jokes about political people such as Bush the ex- president of the USA. Thirdly, we don’t know if the pictures that he showed in the presentation are in the same season or not because it might be that some of them in the winter and the others in the summer. Fourthly, he thinks that Al Gore is biased because he is looking al the global warming in one way.

My opinion:
Actually I am with both of them because I agree with some points with Brandon, and Scott. I agree with Brandon when he said that the show was interesting because he was speaking about the global warming with facts and evidence. On the other hand I agree with Scott in the before and after pictures issue because we are not sure if they are in the same season or not. Overall I like the show and agree more with Brandon than Scott.
